The opening game of the 2012-13 regular season saw the Valley Wildcat defeat the South Shore Mustangs, by a score of 4-1. South Shore opened up the scoring in the first period, on a short-handed goal scored by Alexander Shaw. This held up until the third period when Valley scored the tying goal at 16:42 by Nick Blanchard. At 10:43 Valley scored the go ahead goal that ended up being the winning goal by Blanchard, his second of the night. Yalley then scored two power play goals from Eli Hughes and Grant Janes. Michael Pettet had the win for Valley while Cory Peterson had the loss.
